CaRe x RiSE5.0 Industrial Visit at WestSEA Viana Shipyard

On May 26, 2026, the CaRe Global Network and RiSE5.0 delegation participated in an industrial visit to WestSEA – Viana Shipyard, Portugal, one of Europe’s important maritime and shipbuilding hubs supporting sustainable industrial transformation. The visit provided valuable insights into modern shipbuilding and maintenance systems, sustainable maritime industries, green innovation, Industry 5.0 transformation, and smart manufacturing practices. Participants also explored opportunities for university–industry collaboration, digitalization, workforce development, and data-driven engineering approaches.
The visit highlighted how industrial ecosystems successfully integrate AI and digital technologies, sustainable engineering, human-centric innovation, smart logistics, and international research collaboration to create real-world impact. Discussions further opened future opportunities for joint training programs, research mobility, capacity building initiatives, innovation-driven education, and cross-border academic–industrial partnerships. Through Erasmus+ collaboration and global networking, CaRe continues to strengthen international connections that bridge mathematics, analytics, engineering, sustainability, and industrial innovation for the future.
