From Industry to Culture: SEEP STEM Workshop in Ano Liosia

May 19, 2026

The second day of the workshop “SEEP STEM Educator Empowerment” began with a guided tour of the Industrial Park of Ano Liosia, offering participants the opportunity to explore the area’s industrial and business activity. Among the highlights was a visit to “Anogeianakis Metalworks”, a modern and innovative iron and aluminum processing industry, where participants were introduced to advanced manufacturing processes and contemporary industrial practices.

The group then continued to the center of the Municipality of Ano Liosia, where photos were taken in front of the statue of General LIOSIS, as well as at the memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives during the wars, paying tribute to the historical heritage and identity of the region.

Our visit could not have been complete without a stop at the local cultural association “GRIZA,” where members warmly welcomed the delegation and introduced them to the traditional way of life of the local community, sharing stories and experiences from the past that highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the area.

At this point, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the President of the Arvanitic Cultural Association, Mr. Spyridon Marinis, for his hospitality and insightful presentation, as well as to the traditional tavern “Anev Orwn” and its owner Panagiotis Kolios for generously hosting our lunch and offering participants an authentic Greek culinary experience and of course our host, Post-Doctoral Researcher Dr. Christos Liosis.

The day concluded with continued exploration of the Industrial Park, further showcasing the region’s industrial development and entrepreneurial activity. The evening ended with a networking dinner generously hosted by Prof. Ioannis Sarris, offering participants the opportunity to continue networking and exchanging ideas in a warm atmosphere, while also introducing to traditional Greek cuisine and hospitality

Beyond the educational activities, the day created meaningful connections between participants and the local community, highlighting the importance of cultural exchange, collaboration, and shared experiences within the framework of the program.
